Week of December 19-23th!!! Felices Fiestas!!!

Dear Monitos Parents
Our Theme this week is People around de world/Personas alrededor del mundo.
The words of the week (Palabras que se van a utilizar esta semana):
We will learn to travel/viajar, to know/conocer, different people/diferentes personas.
We continue practicing the tree/el arbol, the reinder/el reno, Santa Claus/Papa Noel, the gifts/los regalos, the lights/las luces, happy holidays/felices fiestas. 
Congratulations to Valentina Pineda our Student of the Week!
Mauri will have a break this week because he is going to visit his relatives for Christmas!!!!!
Please, don’t forget to bring back your child’s Report Card.
All the parents did an awesome art job with their children. Our classroom looks so nice with all the beautiful Santa’s Socks. GOOD JOB!!!!!!
Our Holyday Celebration was a successful event thanks to the effort and collaboration of our Sff! family: the parents, the children and the teachers. Everybody enjoyed it. Thank you!
I’m so grateful to my excellent team: Ms. Karla and Ms. Patricia, who displayed all their creativity and spent so much time making the ornaments for the Christmas tree and decorating the Little Monkeys’ Classroom. YOU ARE THE BEST, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Week of December 12-16!!

Dear Monitos Parents!
Our theme of the Month is (Tema del Mes): People and traditions around de world/Personas y tradiciones alrededor del mundo.
The words of this week (Palabras que se van a utilizar esta semana) are:

Week of December 5-9!!

This month we are working the theme: My Culture and Tradition/Mi Cultura y Tradicion
The words of the week (Palabras que se van a utilizar esta semana):
We will follow learning the same numbers, shapes, colors and words that we were practicing the last week and we will add:
the tree/el arbol, the reindeer/el reno, Santa Claus/Papa Noel, the gifts/los regalos, the lights/las luces, happy holidays/felices fiestas. 
The upcoming weeks we will be working on our presentation for the Christmas show.

This week you will receive your child's report card. If you have any questions or concerns, you can set up an appointment with your child's teacher; times and dates may be available upon request.

Always remember that our best interest is your child's well-been.

After reviewing your child’s report card please sign it up and RETURN it to your teacher as soon as you can. Thank you.

Mauri will be visiting Layla Slade’s House this week.
Remainders (Recordatorios a los Padres de Familia):
Don’t forget every week to fill out the time and the books you are reading to your children on the little form of our Monitos’Bookworm Club. You will find it every Thursday in your journal, please bring it back by Wednesday.
Our “All Together Art” was sent home this week and it is due on Monday December 12th.
Special thanks to Vivian Morales parents who came last week and shared with our Little Monkeys some pictures of Vivian’s family members and her preferences. Good Job!!!!!

The winner of our Monitos’Bookworm Club in November was Braydon Plummer with 300 minutes of reading. Congratulations!!!!! Keep it up!!!!

The next Holyday Celebration will be held on December 16th, we hope everybody will be able to join us for this event. Please let us know if your child is going to participate

Week of November 28 - December 2!!


Dear Monitos Parents

During this month we will be learning and working about “My culture, traditions and people around the world”.
The words we will be learning this week are:
Numbers/numeros: one /uno, two /dos, three / tres, four / cuatro, five /cinco.
Shapes/figuras: The triangle/El triangulo
Colors/Colores: Green/verde
Abrir-Open
Cerrar-Close

Caminar-To walk

Also we will be preparing and practicing for our holiday show.

Mauri will be visiting Qadir Sampson's House this week.

Reminder:
As the weather is getting cold, we would like to remind you to take home the light clothes from your children's cubby and bring some appropriate for the season.
Also please make sure we have plenty of wipes, diapers, pull ups or underwear for the week for your child. Thank you! 

Great job! Bookworm readers and congratulations parents for your efforts. Keep it up!

At the end of this week we will give you the materials for our next "All together Art"; you will have 2 weeks to work on it.

Thank you to all our wonderful parents who came and shared the Circle Time with the Little Monkeys as part of our Thanksgiving Celebration. Everybody did a great job! And the most important thing: your children were so happy singing with you. This was very rewarding for us (the teachers).

Report Cards will be sent home next week. Please let me know if you would like to meet with me to discuss your child’s progress or if you have any questions or comments; I am posting a signup sheet on the back of the classroom door. Meetings will be held on Wednesday December 7 from 8 to 9am.

Week of November 21-25!!!

Dear Monitos Parents

This week we continue working the theme “My Country”- Mi paĆ­s.

The words we will be practicing are

Compartir-To share
El Pavo-the turkey
Dar gracias-Be thankful
Los indios-The Indians
Los peregrinos- The pilgrims

We will continue learning the words: United States (Estados Unidos), my country (mi pais), the flag and its colors (la bandera y sus colores), the National Anthem (el himno nacional) and we will add the Eagle (el aguila), the President (el presidente) and North Carolina (Carolina del Norte).
On Wednesday we will have our Thanksgiving celebration and we want to say all our dear parents: THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support to our efforts, your collaboration and participation in the activities and especially for trusting us the education and care of your children.

Most of our little monkeys are doing great at potty training (thanks to Ms. Patricia)Please make sure your child has wipes, diapers or pull ups or underwear  for the entire week, unfortunately sometimes we have “accidents”, and we want to remind our dear parents to take home the soak clothes. Please and thank you.
We are displaying on the wall the beautiful “Turkey Art” that most of our parents brought last week. We will be waiting for those that still have to bring it.  
Mauri is visiting Lily Kirkman’s house this week.
Thank you to Mrs. Scott who talked to our children about Noah’s life and read his favorite book. Our children really enjoyed listening to her.

Week of November 14-18th!!

     
Dear Monitos Parents
The theme of the Week (Tema de la Semana): My Country and Me/Mi Pais y yo
Words of the week (Palabras que se van a utilizar esta semana):
In addition to the words that we learned last week, we’ll learn: United States (Estados Unidos), my country (mi pais), the flag and its colors (la bandera y sus colores), the national anthem (el himno nacional).
Last Saturday was Margort Perkinson’s Birthday; we celebrated it on Friday with yummy cupcakes and other goodies that her Mom brought for Little Monkey’s Classroom.
 This week Maury will visit Lily Kirkman’s house. Bon Voyage!!!!

Mrs. Jeannine Plummer, she invited Mrs. Dawn Harris who teaches at Ballentine Elementary School and came to sing and read stories to our children.
Dr. Randolph Scott who talked to our children where the Doctors work and what they do when people is sick.
Mr. and Mrs. Kirkman and Papa who showed their photo album and talked to our children about Lily’s favorite color, food, pet and tv show.
Everybody did a NICE JOB!!!!! and the Little Monkeys really enjoy a great time with them.
Our Thanksgiving celebration is coming up! We have a signup sheet at the front door of our classroom for the parents who want to collaborate with us.

Week of November 7th-11th

 Dear Monitos Parents:
This week we continue working the theme: “My Community and Me”
The words we are learning this week are:

This week our little friend Mauri the monkey will be visiting Teague Flores’ house.

El Pavo-The Turkey is the theme for our November’s All Together Art; this week we will send home the materials you will need to work at home with your children, and create a beautiful turkey; please make sure to bring it back no later than November 21st.  Arts will be exposed in our classroom.

Please remember that our Thanksgiving Celebration is coming up and our students are preparing a special activity.  Room parents will help coordinate for this event. Save the date for November 23rd.

Please mark your calendars on Nov 28th for Individual Picture Day; please make sure to turn in the parents notice with your selection for the background by Nov 25th.

Please remember we will be having our first Field Trip this Thursday October 20th, we are going to Hills Ridge Farm in the morning to pick up pumpkins and other fun activities.

October 24th is our Picture Day, children must wear their uniforms: red top and blue pants.
October 31st it’s Costume Party time, have your child wearing a costume and join us for a sweet celebration at 12:00pm
Please make sure to check your child’s cubby on a daily basis and have weather appropriate clothes; we will appreciate your child’s items are labeled.
