Dear Monitos Parents:

Our January theme is “The Universe and Me “/”El Universo y yo “

Words we are learning and practicing this week:
 agua/water, tierra/earth, viento/wind, fuego/fire.

This week:

*We will have fun painting with ice cubes and sand.

*This Friday we are having a special activity called “Gummy Bear Science”
*The student of the week is Jason Maldonado Congratulations! We can’t wait to hear all about you!
* Scholastic book fair is here, take some time to read and pick up books with your child.

 Upcoming events:
*All Art together will be sent next week.

*Scholastic Fair Book is here! We encourage you to spend some time with your child reading and picking up books. Please remember with your purchase you will be contributing to add more books to our class library. If you would like to make book donations our Wish List will be on the Lobby. Thanks for your support!

* Valentine’s is coming soon too, for our special celebration please remember to send cards or stickers to share with all Monitos, we have 17 kids in the classroom.

Our Theme of the Month/Week (Tema del Mes/Semana): “The Universe and Me”/“El Universo y yo”

We continue practicing the same words that we have been practicing last weeks.

Special events this week/Welcome/Student of the week/Birthdays (Eventos especiales esta semana/Bienvenida/Estudiante de la Semana/Cumpleaños):

Maury the Monkey is visiting Ritchie’s house this week. Maury was so happy because he will learn some words in Russian from Ritchie’s Mom.

This week we’ll commemorate Martin Luther King Birthday with a special activity on Tuesday. 

Happy Birthday to Kieran Manfre. He will turn three on Thursday January 24th.  Felicidades!
Congratulations to our student of the Week: Houston Roland. Yeee!

Don’t forget this Friday is PJ Day. Wear your favorite one

Next week we will announce the winner of the Monitos Bookworm Club. Please remember to fill out the form that we are sending home every Friday.

*This Thursday please send a flashlight, we are doing a special activity with them.

Reminders:
*Don't forget take home your child’s blanket to wash every Friday.
*Every Friday the children are allowed to bring his/her favorite toy to share with the classroom, as we working on sharing; a very important social skill.
*This 21st the school will be closed.

Words/palabras: cold/frio, hot/calor, a lot/mucho, few/poco, long/largo, short/corto, inside/adentro, outside/afuera, the date/la fecha, what day is today?/que dia es hoy?, thick/grueso, thin/delgado, rhymes/rimas, trapezoid/trapecio.

Special Words/Palabras especiales: Planetarium/Planetario, winter/invierno, snow/nieve.

Special events this week/Welcome/Student of the week/Birthdays (Eventos especiales esta semana/Bienvenida/Estudiante de la Semana/Cumpleanos):

The Student of the Week is RILEY RICHARD. We will be waiting for Mommy or Daddy to pick up one day to come to our classroom and talk about her favorite things (color, toy, book, dessert and so on)

Maury the Monkey is ready to visit Riley’s home this week. He is so excited to play and have fun with this energetic and beautiful girl!!!!

Reminders (Recordatorios a los Padres de Familia):

On Friday you will find attached to your child’s journal, the Monitos’Bookworm Club form, please take it home and fill it out every day with the books and minutes you are reading to your child, and bring it back next Friday. Allow lots of time to ask and answer questions about stories your share. Discuss characters, actions and emotions with your child. Encourage her/him to share predictions and personal reactions –in fact, just have fun! Thank you for your cooperation.

Homework this week (Tarea de esta semana):

This week we will read books about the planets and winter. We will do art work related to the theme of this month.
