Happy Birthday to Monica Perez who will turn 3 on April 14th!

Here’s something we want to share with you about art.
Teaching art is a good idea—here's why:
  • It's been proven that early exposure to visual art, music, or drama promotes activity in the brain.
  • Art helps children understand other subjects much more clearly—from math and science, to language arts and geography.
  • Art nurtures inventiveness as it engages children in a process that aids in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation.
  • Participating in art activities helps children to gain the tools necessary for understanding human experience, adapting to and respecting others' ways of working and thinking, developing creative problem-solving skills, and communicating thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways.

Special events this week (Eventos especiales esta semana)
This week our students will be preparing their masterpieces for the ART FAIR next week. Please take your time to look at your children’s art and encourage them to continue doing art jobs.
Remainders (Recordatorios a los Padres de Familia):
Please check your children’s cubbies to take home the stuff that your children are not going to need for the new season.
A friendly remainder: don’t forget to take home your children’s blanket to be washed.
As you have noticed, last week we put a note in your children’s cubbies with the details for the International Party. Please let us know if your child is going to participate in this event.
If your children have a tutu or another special outfit, please send it this week, so they can enjoy dancing the different music that we are going to listen to and dance.
Homework this week (Tarea de esta semana):
Music can help increase language skills, motor development, self-confidence, self-esteem, creativity, attention spam, and social skills in all children.
As the most important people in your child’s life, you can help to encourage his or her creativity. Here are a few tips to support self-expression through music and movement:
Observe, support and encourage: Watch and listen for spontaneous expressions of music and dance. Perhaps your child may sing a song while playing with a toy or riding in the car. Remember that a little encouragement supports children, while too much praise can make a child uncomfortable.
Follow your child’s lead: Let yourself join in children’s song and dance. They will be delighted to see you do it their way! Sing back a line of their song or imitate a movement. This validates their abilities instead of imposing outside values and expectations.
Thank you (Agradecimientos)
Thank you to all our wonderful parents who collaborated with the eggs and goodies for our Easter Egg Hunt last Friday. The Monitos were so excited and they really enjoy this activity. Special thanks to Jason’s Mom (Mrs. Ashley) for volunteer at this opportunity.
ART FAIR:  When: April 8 - 12, 2013 Where: At SFF (outside every classroom)
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!
