Week of May 29 - June 1st!!!

Dear Monitos Parents
Our theme of the Month is “How things work”
Words of the week:
We will continue working with the same words and numbers that we have been using the last weeks. We will add:
Words: the wheel, electricity, television, telephone, computer.
Special events this week
On Wednesday at 10.00 a.m. we will have Mrs. Oscar Oviedo as a special guest. He will do a music class for our Little Monkeys.

Reminders:
Don’t forget to check your child’s cubby.
Please remember to leave the special food for your children labeled with his/her name and the date in the kitchen.
Homework this week:
This week we will reinforce at home Music and Movement: “Add your own song”: Sing simple spontaneous songs while you walk, clean up or ride in the car. If your child sees you take joy in making up silly little songs, he or she will too. Keep songs short and simple, such as “Swinging, swinging in the swing” and invite your child to join in and elaborate with you.

Our caterpillars were eating and eating in their cage, they changed into chrysalises and moved to a new pop-up habitat last week. This weekend they turned into beautiful butterflies. Feel free to check them out near the window of our classroom. Our Little Monkey are so happy with them and the Teachers too.
Have a great week!!!!
Miss Amparo and Miss Karla

Encourage conversation and supply words or a prop to help extend the play. For example “Here’s a phone (a little rectangle box) to call the doctor”.
Thank you:
We appreciate so much Mr. and Mrs. Plummer generosity. They have donated to our classroom a box with caterpillars and our little Monkeys are going to follow the process to see how they will turn in beautiful butterflies!!!!!!.

Week of May 7th-11th!

Dear Monitos Parents

Out theme of the Week is: “HOW WE GROW UP AND CHANGE”
This week we will focus on Growing Stages of a Human Being.
Words of the week:
Numbers: One to ten
Words: to sit down, to stand up, to grow up, baby, child, adult, I love you mom, Mother’s Day.
Special events this week:
Happy Birthday! to Caleb on his 3rd birthday. Congratulations!
This week we will be celebrating Mother’s Day.
Reminders: We will appreciate your help to put sunscreen on your children before coming to the school and we are going to do it in the afternoon before going to the park (we just started last week). Working together is the best way to protect our little monkeys.
Homework:
This week we will reinforce at home Math: “I have four fingers” It’s natural  for young children to be illogical in their math thinking, such as counting fingers and getting four onetime and five the next. But correcting children may make them doubt their abilities and, fearing failure, they may stop trying at all. So just encourage your child to keep counting!!!!!

This Friday we will celebrate Mother’s Day in our classroom. Our Little Monkeys will perform a Puppet Show for their beautiful and wonderful Moms. They have been preparing special gifts and a party too. Please join us at 4.30 p.m. Don’t miss it, you are going to have so much fun!!!!.

THANK YOU to Mrs. Dawn Harris, she always gives our Little Monkeys a great time reading stories and making art crafts. We are so lucky to have her as our Mentor and our children love her.
Have a great week!!!!

Happy Mother’s Day
Ms. Amparo.

Week of April 30th-May 4!!

Theme of the Month: “THE ARTS” and this week we will focus on Literature and Drama
The new words that we are going to learn this week are:
Story, puppets, poetry, characters.
Special events this week: Welcome to our new friend Amelie Porper, who will start assisting in our classroom on May 1st
This week we will perform Finger Puppet stories and we will learn some words in French and Chinese.
Reminders: As part of our language activities, we are still sharing the favorite toy or book every Friday at Circle time. Please don’t forget to send your child’s favorite one.
Homework this week: This week we will reinforce at home Music and Movement: “Follow your child’s lead” Let yourself join in children’s song and dance. They will be delighted to see you do it their way! Sing back a line of their song or imitate a movement. This validates their abilities instead of imposing outside values and expectations.

We got some beautiful “All Art Together” projects for April, but we still miss the rest. We’ll be waiting this week to get yours.
THANK YOU to Braydon’s Mom and Teague’s Mom for your donation to the classroom. We appreciate so much your generosity.  Our Little Monkeys have a beautiful way to learn the cultural diversity through the books you  brought (French language, Chinese language and Irish holidays).

THANK YOU to Lucas’s Mom for the nice breakfast party to celebrate his birthday with the Little Monkeys.
Have a great week!!!!
Ms. Amparo.
