Theme of the Week: "My Body" / “ Mi Cuerpo”

 Dear Monitos Families,

I hope everyone had a great week! Our goal for this week is for our Monitos to identify their face and body parts. We will start to recognize the red color. We will make faces with paper plates, some body silhouettes In addition, we will have many physical activities where the Monitos can move their body parts. Also, on Friday, we will have a puppet show about equality.

Student of the Week

Our First Student of the Week is Felix Diaz! Congratulations! We can’t wait to learn more about you and your family.

Note: Make sure to sign up for this activity which starts next week. Signup sheet is outside our classroom.

Reminders:

·         Make sure to keep extra clothing inside your child’s cubby

·         Wash your hands every morning at drop off

·         Read and fill out your child’s journal every day

Hello Dear Monitos Parents!
We hope everyone had a great week!
This week, we will continue working on the transitions, helping the new Monitos learn and get familiar with the classroom and knowing more about their school. Our Monitos have been delighted with the new park, with each toys that are in the different centers and each one of the activities we have prepared for them daily.

This week we continue with the same theme "My school and Me". We will be working different activities to reinforce the primary colors (Yellow, blue and red), will practice sharing and the rules of courtesy (please, thank you, etc). We go through the different areas of the classroom and see which Monito identifies more, and also work on our project of the month.

Mom and dad could help at home by talking and practicing with your child about saying "Good Morning, Thank you and Please".

Special Events and Birthdays:
Monday Aug. 24th: Welcome back to Riley.
Friday Aug. 28th: Project "My School SFF!"
Monday Aug. 31st. Ms. Maria Gracia's Birthday

Please make sure you bring the following items with your child.
· Extra clothes
· Diapers
· Wipes
· Blanket
· Cream sunscreen, no spray (with authorization form)

Also, please make sure your lotions, or creams come with a form filled out and signed by you, indicating amount to be applied, areas to be protected, areas to be avoided, and specific times it is to be used.

AEROSOLS will NOT be accepted. Gracias!

Week of August 18th – August 21st

Welcome Monitos!

I would like to welcome all of you to our Monitos class and to this first week of classes.

This week is all about transitions. Our children will get to know their new class, toys, materials, friends, and teachers. Please be patient if your child takes a little longer with transitions. This is normal and we will continue working with each one of them during this time.

At home you can talk with your child about this change and their new adventure in a new class. Also any tip about your child to help him/her with the transition let us know to make this change easier for them.

This week we will talk about the classroom, new classmates, rules and routine of our class, with fun activities to capture more they attention.

Remember:
*Make sure to keep extra clothes for you child in the cubby.  
*Wash your child’s hands when arrive to the classroom.
*Toys are not allowed in class, we can give them soft animals for nap time.

Dear Spanish for fun! Parents,

This is our last week of our Summer Camp and we are planning a week with a lot of fun and physical activities.

Special Activities:

Monday: Wear your favorite team shirt.

Tuesday: Dress up as an athlete

Thursday: St Jude trike-a-thon. Make sure to bring your bicycle and helmet

Friday: Sff! Olympic Games. Bring your child wearing an Orange T-shirt

Splash Days
Our last week of Splash Days: Monday morning and Thursday Afternoon.

Important Upcoming Dates:
August 12^th: Meet and Greet with Parents at 6.30 pm
August 13^th: Sff! Annual Trike-a-Thon
August 14^th: Last day of Summer Camp. Early release at 12.30 pm
August 17^th: Teacher’s work day. School is CLOSED
August 18^th: First day of school year 2015-2016  

 Reminder:

Make sure to take all your child’s belonging from his/her cubby next Friday. We will be working and preparing our classes for the star of the new school year. Thanks!
