Weeks of December 27th- January 4th!!


Dear Monitos Parents:

Our Theme of the Month/Week (Tema del Mes/Semana): “People Around the World"
As this is a short week and we are closing 2012, we will make a review of all that we have been learning these months: numbers, colors and shapes.
Esta semana es muy corta y estamos cerrando 2012, así que haremos una revisión de todo lo que hemos venido aprendiendo estos meses: números, colores y figuras geométricas. 

Special events this week/Welcome/Student of the week/Birthdays (Eventos especiales esta semana/Bienvenida/Estudiante de la Semana/Cumpleanos):

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to RILEY RICHARDS, who turned three on the 24th, she is a big girl now!!!! 
Next Friday we will have a special snack in the afternoon with our Monitos to celebrate the New Year.
Reminders (Recordatorios a los Padres de Familia):
The weather is getting cold, please make sure your child has an appropriate blanket for nap time: warm and big enough for he / she, and don’t forget to bring his/her jacket, hat and gloves. Thank you. 
Please don’t forget to pick your date for the Student of the Week.
School will be closed next Monday December 31st and Tuesday January 1st in observance to New Year!

On January 2nd School is closed due to Teachers workday

We will resume activities on Thursday January 3rd. Enjoy this little winter break

January 4th is Pajama Day.   

Homework this week (Tarea de esta semana):
On January 7th we will start filling again the form for the Monitos’ Bookworm Club, please check your child’s journal. At the end of each month we will have a winner and a prize for the child that has more minutes of reading books.

Week of December 17-21st


Dear Parents
Monitos class wants to wish you a very special Holiday Season filled with
Peace, Joy and Lasting Happiness.


Theme of the week:
"People around the world."
We continue practicing same words of the past two weeks.
This week our kids will practice their song for The Christmas Party. Please congratulate them for their efforts; they are doing a great job.
In art crafts, we will do a Christmas tree with the shape of the triangle,
and a gingerbread house.
We will read the book "kids around the world".

This week:
*Maury will visit Elias’s house
*Friday 21st is our Christmas party .We hope to see you there. Please remember to pick up your child before 2:30pm.

* Santa is visiting Sff! on Friday December 21st distributing presents. Please make sure to place your child’s under the tree at the lobby by Thursday.
* Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th school is closed.

Special events:
*Congratulations Perry Family on the arrival of your new baby son.
*Happy Birthday to Riley Richards.  She turns 3 years old on December 24th.

Dear Monitos Parents:
Thank you to our wonderful parents and grandparents who collaborated and shared with us the Thanksgiving Celebration. This event was a success because of you all, and the children were so happy. We appreciate it so much.

To reinforce the theme of this week, please talk to your children about the special events, holidays and places in North Carolina. Show them the map of our State and identify where we live.

Next Friday we will be sending home the template of a sock stocking (stocking and topper) to be working with your child with Christmas decoration (All Art Together project for December). You and your child will have two weeks to display your imagination and creativity.

On Monday we will be giving your child’s Report Card with the evaluation of the First Quarter, please take a moment to read it, make a comment, sign it and return it by Monday.  The Parent-Teacher Conference will be held on December 3rd, and we have a sheet at the entrance of our classroom with times.
 
Our class will be in charge to decorate the Board for the month of December (at the entrance of our School), if you have any article about the upcoming events, please feel free to bring it and we will post it on the board. Thank You.

*December 3rd is Monitos Conference day; please feel free to make an appointment if you would like to meet with us.

For the parents: we will send home the template of a turkey to be decorated in a team work (parents/children) with feathers, paint, construction paper, goggle eyes and so on. Of course we expect you have fun using your creativity and imagination.

“Costume Parade, Trick or Treat and review”

This week we will focus on the safety rules for the Trick or Treat, and also we will review the themes of October: The Feelings and The Family, colors and shapes learned this month.

Esta semana nos enfocaremos en la reglas de seguridad cuando salimos a recoger dulces, asimismo revisaremos los temas del mes de Octubre: Los sentimientos y la Familia, los colores y figuras geométricas aprendidos este mes.

This week the Little Monkeys will carve a big pumpkin that we brought from our field trip to the farm and make a Jack-O-Lantern.
They also will experience touching the pumpkin seeds and cooked colorful pasta, and as an art project they will make a scarecrow.

Last week we send the second “All Art Together” project: a pumpkin, you will have a week to work with your child and be as much creative as you did with the first project.
The Little Monkeys will make a special art project for their grandparents this Thursday.

We would like to invite our children’s grandparents to come and spend some time with them here at the school. You can read a book, show some pictures, talk about your grandchild’s favorite things, make an art project with the children, sing some songs or whatever you would like to do. We have a signup sheet at the door with two times: at 10.00 a.m and 3.30 p.m. on Friday 19th.

We will continue practicing  same words from last week and talking about our feelings and emotions.

Especial events/ eventos especiales:
* Mauri the monkey will go to Evelyn's home. Congratulations Evelyn, we hope you all have a great time.
*On Thursday please bring a small mirror ,we will do a fun activity with our monitos, watching ourselves doing faces, according to our feelings.

Homework /tarea de la semana :
Please continue reinforcing the theme that we are working  with the kids.

Dates to Remember:
*Grandparents day October 19th.We cordially invite all grandparents to come and spend some time with us. They could come and read their grand children's favorite book or may they would like to come and share some pictures or stories with us. Please coordinate with Miss Amparo or myself about best times to come.

*Field trip on October 26th, we hope to see all of you at Granyard Hill Farm. This will be a great opportunity lo practice our vocabulary

*Costume Party on October 31st. Please make sure your child wears costume and has additional clothes to change after the celebration.
We encourage parents to send goodies to share like stickers, pencils, tattoos, cookies to decorate, bubbles, jello, gold fish cookies, chocolate as long as it does not contain nuts.
Please avoid sending hard candy.

This week we will do many fun activities with the children using our senses like touching different textures, tasting different flavors and hearing and comparing sounds.

Mauri the Monkey will go to Samuel's home. How fun!

·         Friday September 28th is PJ's day. Please wear your favorite pajama to school.

·         Please make sure you have returned all unsold Go Play Save books. Thank you.

·         We are still missing some family pictures; please make sure to bring yours if case you have not yet.

·         Monday October 8th is Picture Day at Sff! Please have your child wearing Sff! uniform. (Red top and blue pants).

On Wednesday please bring a small flashlight.

BOOK WORM CLUB: don’t’ forget to pick up your sheet every Friday. You have one week to fill it out and bring it back. REMEMBER by the end of the month the child that has more minutes will get a special praise.
As a friendly remainder: Please bring your Family Pictures. It is very important for your child to look at you in our Family Corner.

This week we will learn about the five senses. You can help your children learn through their senses, for example talk to them about smells in your kitchen or sounds in your yard.

Thank you to Evelyn’s Mom, who brought some props for our Dramatic Area, our children are so happy taking good care of the baby dolls with the new blankets and bibs.

Dear Monitos Parents


This week we continue learning about our Body and the color red, with activities like cutting and coloring the body, decorating our silhouette in paper, drawing with chalk, and playing  Simon says; pointing  parts of the body and face.

Instructions for "All art together "

This week a silhouette will be sent home. Help your child decorate the silhouette with stickers, pictures, colors; have fun, be creative and most of  all work together.
Please bring your silhouette no later than Monday September 17th, we will make sure your art is exposed.

Homework this week:

Continue talking to the child about the parts of our body.
Give extra kisses and hugs to our Monitos for the great job they are doing every day.



Citipass books are due this Friday, please make sure you turn in all your orders.

Week of September 4th-7th!



Dear Monitos Parents: 

We are very happy to see our children's progress, adaptation and desire to learn more. Congrats Monitos this year Potty Training is beginning earlier than we thought. You are doing great! Keep up the good work.

This and next week Mauri The Monkey will visit Kieran’s home, we know that both of them will have so much fun together. BON VOYAGE!!!!!

We are preparing our first project for the “ALL ART TOGETHER” activity this month. Soon you will receive the material to work with your child at home. Remember all family members can help in this activity.

BOOK WORM CLUB begins this month, every week we will give you a sheet to fill in what book or books are you reading to your child.

  •  Children learn when we read with them

  •  Reading time is a time when I am held and loved.

  •  Every time we read I hear how words are used, listen to rich language, and learn new words.

  • Things come in different colors, sizes and shapes.

  • It’s fun to play with language, and explore rhythm, rhyme and humor.

Week of August 27th- 31st!

Dear Monitos Parents

This week we continue practicing the same words from last week.
Also we will continue introducing the rules of the classroom and how we work in the centers.
The kids are doing a great job so far. Way to go Monitos!

Week of August 20th -24th!


Dear Parents:

Special events this week:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JASON WADE MALDONADO, he will turn two on August 23th.

Our special activity this week is a tour around Sff! We will have a lot of fun visiting the Director’s Office (Miss Monica and Miss Veronica), the kitchen (Don Jacinto) and the park.

Reminders:
We got some Child Profile sheets, but we are still missing the forms please make sure to turn them in.
We posted two sheets in our classroom: The Student of the Week and Volunteer Parents for special activities. Please take a moment to look at them and sign up, remember your support is very important and valuable for us.
Please don’t forget to bring your child’s blanket and the FAMILY PICTURES!!!!.
