Week of August 1st-5th

Classroom: Monitos
Blog Title: Summer Camp
Week: August 1st to August 5th, 2016
Weekly Featured Theme: Little Athletes

πŸ”  What are we learning?

Dear Monitos Parents,
We are getting down to the last few weeks of Summer Camp! This week we will learn to be Little Athletes. We will continue creating safe learning environments that offer the children the opportunity to explore sports. We have scheduled exciting learning activities that will allow us to continue strengthening motor, cognitive-sensory and language skills. One of them is the Olympics Parade at Sff! Children should wear sports clothes for the parade. They will also participate in competitions with Sapitos and Ositos and on Friday, they will have so much fun on our bike ride. We will also create the Olympic Torch and Rings as an art project.

Thank you once again for all your support and for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life.

Best Regards,
Miss Cristina and Miss MarΓa Gracia

πŸ“„ Materials for Special Projects
Have your child wear swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Bring a towel and a plastic bag for wet items. Pack all these items in a tote bag for your child. We recommend to label the bag, swimsuit, towel and shoes with your child’s name.
Have your child wear a t-shirt of their favorite sports team on Monday.
Have your child dressed like an Athlete on Tuesday. They can be tennis players, swimmers, soccer players, etc.
Have your child wear a green t-shirt for the activity on Thursday.
Bring your child’s bike, bike helmet and kneepads labeled with his/her name on Friday

πŸ”† Friendly Reminders
Check your child’s cubby and make sure to bring extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather.
Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellant should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a ziploc bag. We will also appreciate if sunscreen is applied to the child in the morning before dropping him/her at the preschool.
Remove wet clothing from the cubby on Splash days.
