Week of July 18th-22nd

Classroom: Monitos
Blog Title: Summer Camp
Week: July 18th to July 22nd, 2016
Weekly Featured Theme: Little Scientists

πŸ”  What are we learning?

Dear Monitos Parents,
This week we will learn to be little scientists. We will continue creating safe learning environments that offer the children the opportunity to explore and experiment with science. Children will learn about the aquatic animals and colors and we will experiment with water and colors and we will explore the plants and insects in our surroundings.

We will be scheduling the following fun learning activities so children can continue strengthening motor, language and cognitive-sensory skills such as working on art projects and reading story about aquatic animals during story time.

Thank you once again for all your support and for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life.

Best Regards,
Miss Cristina and Miss MarΓa

πŸ“„ Materials for Special Projects
Have your child wear swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Bring a towel and a plastic bag for wet items. Pack all these items in a tote bag for your child. We recommend to label the bag, swimsuit, towel and shoes with your child’s name.
Bring books about experiments with water if you have one at home so we can share it with your child’s classmates.
Bring magnifier and binocular for Wednesday’s project.
Bring a fresh flower for a sensorial activity on Wednesday.

πŸ”† Friendly Reminders
Check your child’s cubby and make sure to bring extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather.
Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellant should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a ziploc bag. We will also appreciate if sunscreen is applied to the child in the morning before dropping him/her at the preschool.
Remove wet clothing from the cubby on Splash days.

πŸ“† Holidays & Upcoming Events
Exploration Day on Wednesday, July 20th.
